High River Alliance Church is a growing congregation with an average Sunday attendance of 200-250.  The town of High River is a growing, vibrant community with a population of approximately 12,000 and is located 20 minutes south of Calgary in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  A newly renovated facility was completed in the summer of 2006 and HRAC now desires to develop its ministry and effectiveness significantly in this next chapter of its history.

 

We are presently searching for an individual to join our staff team and give leadership to the Children's Ministries of our church.  Key responsibilities within this role are to plan, oversee and co-ordinate an effective children’s ministry within HRAC (from nursery to grade 5), to recruit, train and empower our volunteers as well as to encourage and support parents in their efforts to raise their children.  The present scope of this ministry includes approximately 50 volunteer staff and 100 children.  This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.  A detailed job description is available upon request.

Pastor of Children’s Ministries

 

 

Position:          Children’s Ministry Pastor

 

Purpose:         To give effective, visionary leadership to the overall ministry to children at High River Alliance Church.  This job is primarily about defining a creative strategic plan for our ministry to children and then leading a team in implementing that plan.  In addition, the development and nurture of our Children’s Ministry leaders is a foundational component in the health and future of HRAC.

 

Scope:             This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.

 

Accountable to / Empowered by:     Lead Pastor

 

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Develop and implement a long term, strategic ministry plan for children’s ministry.

·         Ensure the development of an annual and long term ministry plan for Children’s Ministry that is aligned with the global mission and vision of High River Alliance Church.  This plan will seek to introduce children to Jesus and develop them towards full devotion to him.  This plan is to include mission, vision, strategic initiatives, goals, measurable outcomes, budget and calendar of events.

·         Oversee the planning and implementation of Children’s Ministry special events.  This may involve such things as special outreach and community focused family events, summer Day Camps, Christmas programs, and ensuring that they are integrated with the overall vision and plan of the church calendar. 

·         Oversee the coordination and operation of the weekend programs for nursery, Children’s Church, pre-school, and grade school children (up to Grade 5).  It involves volunteer recruitment, overseeing the planning for the weekend ministry, which may drama, worship, teaching team, small groups, greeters, attendance tracking, tech, curriculum, apprentice program and newcomer follow-up.

 

Oversee effective recruitment, training and care of volunteer teams. 

·         Training leaders is critical to our vision at HRAC.  Building and training an effective ministry team in each of the program areas in order to accomplish the strategic plan of making disciples is a high priority.

·         This involves developing/coordinating training systems and providing regular in service training along with volunteer care and communication.  

 

 

Ensure there are effective and efficient administration systems.

·         These involve systems like attendance tracking, schedules, teaching supplies, curriculum, bulletin boards, communication, program and strategy evaluation, etc.

·         Includes Plan To Protect which is a program to ensure that all our staff and volunteers are qualified to give our children a safe and secure environment in which to learn.

 

Assist with the HRAC Ministry Leadership Team

·         Assist other ministries in their development of their plan and strategy. Assist in the implementation of the strategic initiatives arising from our Directional Plan.

·         Assist in developing strategy and appropriate structures for ministries to communicate, coordinate and synergize most effectively.
